CBD 101

What is CBD?

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is one of the chemical compounds called cannabinoids found in cannabis, a plant known for its wellness properties. Hemp and marijuana belong to the cannabis genus of plants. Unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) found in marijuana, CBD is completely non-psychoactive, allowing people to enjoy the benefits of the cannabis plant without the high.

Many CBD products are sourced from industrial hemp, which contains little to no CBD. Phytocannabinoid rich hemp (PCR hemp) is a CBD-rich strain, containing 10 times the concentration of CBD versus industrial hemp. Graceleaf exclusively uses PCR hemp.

What are Cannabinoids?

Plant-based cannabinoids, or phytocannabinoids, from cannabis account for most of its benefits. The human body also produces cannabinoids, called endocannabinoids, which interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) to restore chemical balance, or homeostasis.

Our Endocannabinoid System

The ECS is an intricate “cell-signaling” system that helps to regulate our daily functions. It has two components: endocannabinoid receptors, located on cell surfaces, and endocannabinoids, which act as neurotransmitters. Simplistically, receptors react with neurotransmitters to promote a sense of balance throughout the body.

The Role of Terpenes

Terpenes, compounds found in plants that determine their scents, also have beneficial effects on health and wellness. There are over 100 different types of terpenes in cannabis and they interact with cannabinoids to enhance or modify their results, which, when working together synergistically, is known as the “entourage effect.”

The Effects of CBD

With the combination of powerful terpenes and cannabinoids from PCR hemp, we’ve created premium CBD products that are designed to support emotional stability, healthy sleep patterns, and produce calming effects. Generally, it is recommended to start with a small dose, increasing over time as you see how it meets your needs.

Broad Spectrum vs Full Spectrum

Full Spectrum CBD retains the full concentration of cannabinoids and terpenes found in raw PCR hemp extract, which include trace amounts of THC. Broad Spectrum contains all the beneficial compounds, but with the THC removed.

How Safe is CBD?

Graceleaf products are third-party tested for efficacy and safety, ensuring you’re receiving accurate concentrations of cannabinoids. We test to ensure that no THC or potential contaminants are present in any of our products. A Certificate of Analysis (COA), a document from an accredited independent laboratory showing the quantity of various cannabinoids and other elements in a product, is available for every Graceleaf product.

Research is ongoing on CBD’s interaction with other medications. We recommend that you consult with a qualified health care provider if you have questions about taking CBD while using other medications.

What makes Graceleaf Different?

Graceleaf broad spectrum CBD products are THC-free and made from the highest quality PCR hemp, meaning our products contain a wealth of beneficial terpenes and cannabinoids. Our softgels utilize nanoemulsion technology, making our CBD more bioavailable than other oil-based products, which means more CBD will be used by your body and not wasted. We also extract our CBD oil with a gentle CO2 process that does not use harsh solvents that can harm the beneficial terpenes and cannabinoids.  We also seek out organic ingredients whenever possible. Verified by thorough testing, we feel confident our premium CBD will deliver amazing results.
